Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate in Katsina State, has returned to the state after an overseas medical trip, with his campaign announcing plans to resume full-scale activities.
Kaita’s return was announced on Monday by the spokesman for the Ahmad Babba Kaita Gubernatorial Campaign, Abubakar Ahmed, in a statement.
According to Ahmed, the candidate had attempted to make his return low-key, but his supporters and residents eager for political change turned the arrival into a notable event.
“Even though the candidate tried to make a low-key return, his popularity and the yearning of Katsina State citizens for a positive change denied him that,” the statement said.
Shortly after his arrival, Kaita travelled to Dutsin-Ma, where he attended the funeral prayer for Alhaji Sabe Hassan Makera.
The deceased was the younger brother of prominent politician, Alhaji Aminu Makera, and uncle to Hon. Surajo Aminu-Makera, a close associate of the ADC candidate.
The campaign spokesman said Kaita’s return would pave the way for the ADC to intensify its campaign activities across Katsina State.
“With his return therefore, the ADC will continue its campaigns for all elective positions with rigorous pursuit on Katsina State voters who have anxiously been waiting for the candidate’s arrival,” Ahmed said.
The campaign did not disclose details of the candidate’s medical treatment or the country where he received treatment.
It, however, said the ADC would continue its mobilisation for all elective positions as the party seeks to deepen its presence across the state.
