President Bola Tinubu has extended the implementation of the 2025 Appropriation Act by three months, moving the deadline from September 30 to December 31, 2026.
The extension followed the passage of the Appropriation (Amendment) (No. 4) Bill, 2025, by the Senate and House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the extension would give Ministries, Departments and Agencies additional time to complete ongoing capital projects.
It would also enable the MDAs to fully utilise funds already appropriated for programmes and projects across the country.
The statement added that the extension would ensure the continuation of critical government programmes without disruption.
Tinubu commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their prompt consideration and passage of the amendment.
The President described the development as further evidence of cooperation between the Executive and Legislature in the service of the nation.
