The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, has urged residents across the territory to continue living in harmony, mutual love, and tolerance, describing Abuja as the ultimate symbol of national unity and a beacon of hope for the African continent.

In an address marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary on Thursday, October 1, the Minister highlighted the journey of the nation while reflecting on this year’s theme, “From Reforms to Stability: Consolidating Nigeria’s Renewed Hope for Shared Prosperity.”

“I urge us to continue to coexist in harmony, showing the love and tolerance that make our city a true home for all.

“Let this anniversary serve as a reminder of what we can achieve when we work with a shared purpose and a unified vision.

“Together, we will build an FCT that we can all be proud of — a beacon of hope and prosperity for the entire African continent,” Wike said.

Highlighting the achievements of the FCT Administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he noted that deliberate investments are transforming both urban and rural areas to deliver the dividends of good governance directly to the common man.

“Massive revitalization of primary healthcare centers and schools to ensure quality healthcare and competitive education across all area councils.

“Deployment of modern technology, enhanced community policing, and intensified surveillance in close collaboration with security agencies to protect lives and property.”

Furthermore, as the nation approaches the forthcoming general elections scheduled for January 2027, the Minister urged residents to protect public infrastructure against vandalism and remain law-abiding.
