The Nigerian equities market extended its downward trend on Wednesday as the NGX All-Share Index fell by 0.07 per cent to 250,096.75 points, while market capitalisation dropped by N110bn to N162.39tn.
The decline was driven by sustained selling pressure, with 30 stocks recording losses against 23 gainers, according to market data.
The latest performance came despite a modest easing in selling pressure compared with the previous session.
Tripple Gee & Company led the gainers, rising by 9.96 per cent to close at N3.09 per share.
Critical Minerals Financing Corporation followed with a 9.86 per cent gain, closing at N4.01 per share.
Champion Breweries gained 9.50 per cent to close at N10.95, while Wapic Insurance rose by 9.24 per cent to N2.60.
Multiverse Mining & Exploration also appreciated by 8.33 per cent to close at 39 kobo per share.
On the losing side, Thomas Wyatt Nigeria led the decliners, shedding 9.74 per cent to close at N2.41 per share.
Sovereign Trust Insurance declined by 7.60 per cent to N2.31.
Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals lost 4.61 per cent to close at N7.25, while Veritas Kapital Assurance fell by 4.42 per cent to N1.08 per share.
The negative market breadth indicated that investors continued to favour sell-offs over fresh buying, putting further pressure on the benchmark index.
Market analysts described the session as bearish, citing weaker trading activity and continued downward movement.
The latest decline leaves investors watching for signs of renewed buying interest as the equities market struggles to reverse the prevailing negative sentiment.
