PHCN: 11 communities in total darkness in Kebbi

For the past one week, no fewer than 11 communities in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State Capital were thrown into darkness, via a failure in the 7.5MVA transformer.

Addressing Newsmen over the one week blackout, the Business Manager in charge of the State, Malam Mukhtar Ibrahim tendered unreserved apology for the inconvenience, describing it as most regrettable.

He stated that, there is no truth in the rumour milling around the state that the PHCN is not willing to repair the faulty transformer because the company has been privatized and as such, the new owners may not be willing to be responsible for its repairs.

Malam Ibrahim urged members of the public to disregard such insinuation as it is baseless and unfounded.

He however expressed the company’s readiness to effect the repairs as soon as possible, adding that a team of experts from Kaduna have arrived the state and have commenced work.

The 11 communities involved in the blackout according to him include, Badariya, Rafin-Atiku, Bulasa, one Battalion, Nigeria Army, and Mechanic village.

Others include, Ahmadu Bello way, Bayan-kara, Shira Sarakuna and Goiya among others.

Mallam Ibrahim appealed to all members of the affected communities to be vigilant and wary of bad eggs in the communities, who would take advantage of the blackout to vandalize PHCN equipments
