Greenwich Bank opens branches in Ondo, Ekiti, targets farmers

Date:

Greenwich Bank Limited has opened branches in Akure, Ondo State, and Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as it expands its commercial banking operations across the South-West.

The bank said the expansion would improve access to financial services and support farmers, traders, entrepreneurs and businesses in the region.

The Akure branch was commissioned on October 8 by Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his deputy, Olayide Adelami.

The Ado-Ekiti branch was inaugurated on October 9 by Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, represented by his Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo.

Speaking on the expansion, the Group Chairman of Greenwich Holdings Limited, Kayode Falowo, said the bank’s transition into commercial banking would enable it to extend its financial expertise beyond large institutions to individuals and small businesses.

“With the commercial banking licence granted by the Central Bank of Nigeria, Greenwich Bank will extend its expertise into communities across the country, serving not only as an adviser to major institutions but also as a trusted partner to the farmers, traders, entrepreneurs and families who form the foundation of our economy,” Falowo said.

He said the bank would support farmers, cooperatives, processors, exporters, traders and entrepreneurs in Akure.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at strengthening local businesses and ensuring that more economic value from Ondo’s agricultural produce remains within the state.

“In doing so, we hope to help keep more of the value of Ondo’s produce here at home, in the hands of the people who create it. We will work to develop businesses and promote value chain enterprises as trusted partners in the state,” he said.

The Chairman of Greenwich Bank, Segun Oloketuyi, described the branch openings as a significant milestone in the institution’s evolution into a broader financial services provider.

He said the bank would deploy its capital base, industry expertise, technology and customer-focused approach to deliver accessible banking services.

At the Akure commissioning, Aiyedatiwa commended the bank for expanding into Ondo State, describing the development as a positive contribution to economic growth.

The governor urged residents and businesses to take advantage of the bank’s services, expressing confidence that its presence would support the state’s development objectives.

Similarly, Oyebanji welcomed the bank’s entry into Ado-Ekiti, saying its presence was expected to boost business activities and economic development.

The bank’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ozena Utulu, said the openings followed the inauguration of three branches in Lagos, marking another phase of its physical expansion since its transition into commercial banking.

The expansion comes as Greenwich Bank seeks to broaden its reach and serve a wider range of customers across Nigeria.
