Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barr. Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has launched a statewide women’s mobilisation drive for the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state and other APC candidates.

The initiative which borders on the establishment of an organized women’s network across Katsina state seeks to combine grassroots support for the re-election bid of President Tinubu and Radda’s political ambition. It’s also about positioning local government structures as the foundation of the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the next general election.

The endorsement was associated with a gathering at the Government Day Secondary School Assembly Hall, where support was expressed for Tinubu, Radda and other candidates running under the platform of the APC in 2027.

The National Legal Adviser also convened a meeting at his residence in Kankia, where local government coordinators were directed to establish an inclusive organisational structure by selecting executive members across their various areas.

Barr. Kankia disclosed that the coordinators had submitted complete lists of nominees, marking an initial step towards building the proposed network.

He stated that the dual focus on candidate endorsement and women’s representation reflect an effort to strengthen the electoral organisation of the APC while expanding women’s participation beyond campaign rallies and voter mobilisation.

The APC chieftain equally stressed that women’s contributions should extend beyond electioneering, adding that they should be recognised as political partners and carried along in decisions affecting the party.

“This structure is expected to provide a coordinated platform for women’s participation in grassroots political activities, community outreach and the mobilisation of support for APC candidates across board.

“By placing local government coordinators at the centre of the initiative, we are establishing an organisational framework that is capable of reaching communities across the entire Katsina state as we head to the 2027 polls”, he added.

The endorsement of President Tinubu, Gov. Radda and other APC candidates provides the political direction for the initiative, linking the proposed women’s network to the party’s broader preparations for the 2027 general election.

The mobilisation is intended to demonstrate support for Tinubu’s bid for a second term while rallying support for Radda and other party candidates seeking elective offices.
