The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has warned residents of Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa State against a fraudulent enumeration exercise conducted by individuals posing as its officials.
In a statement, the Agency said the impersonators were neither NEMA staff nor authorised to conduct the exercise, which involved people purportedly affected by disasters.
NEMA urged residents, particularly those in affected communities, to disregard the exercise and avoid providing personal information or making payments to anyone claiming to register them or determine their eligibility for humanitarian assistance.
The Agency said all legitimate enumeration, assessment and registration exercises are conducted through established procedures in collaboration with State Governments and their State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs).
It stressed that any exercise conducted outside those procedures is unauthorised and invalid.
NEMA reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process, assuring the public that legitimate interventions are carried out only by duly authorised personnel.
