The Makinde-Daura presidential campaign organization, MDPCO, has charged its North Central zonal state coordinators, to reach out to 15 million Nigerians ‘who go to bed hungry’ daily, not because they are lazy but because their government consigned them to poverty.

The Director-General of Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) and former Minister of Aviation, Hon. Felix Hassan Hyat gave the charge on Wednesday while inaugurating the coordinators at the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) headquarters in Abuja.

Hyat pointed out that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), a government agency, confirmed that every night, 35 million Nigerians go to bed hungry.

“It has never happened in the history of this country. This APC-led administration has made it happen,” Hyat stated.

He furthervcharged the coordinators to sell Egnr. Seyi Makinde’s message of RESET Nigeria to every home in the country.

According to him, “Our mandate is to go to where the people are and share the most important product we have in Nigerian politics today: our presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde.

“This journey begins at the polling units and moves to the ward headquarters, local government headquarters, state headquarters and, ultimately, the national level.

“Politics is local, and our work must be localised,” he stated.

The Director-General reminded them that elections are fought, won and lost at the polling units, and advised the coordinators to mind the persons they appoint as agents of the party in the forthcoming election.

His words, “If I appoint an agent who is not capable of doing the job, I should not be surprised by the outcome,” he added.

Hyat told them that they have a presidential candidate who has delivered on his mandate as Oyo State governor. Continuing, he said,

“Therefore, Nigerians should have nothing to fear about the candidature of Governor Seyi Makinde. He is a decent, great person.

“We need leadership in Nigeria from somebody who can work and walk without being aided.

“A Nigerian leader should be able to enter a car and travel from here to Jos. I am sure if most of the presidential candidates try that, they will be travelling with a retinue of doctors,” he said.

The Deputy Director, Operations of the MDPCO, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, said the campaign message is premised on four pillars- the economy, education, security and socio-political system.

“These are the four pillars through which the presidential candidate wishes to reach every Nigerian in the country,” he stated.

He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government of throwing Nigerians into massive poverty.

His words, “You cannot wake up and just say i have removed subsisdy,’ and then float the naira. Every price in this country went up. That ought to have been expected.

“You needed to think things through and mitigate against those events that would inevitably arise. But they did not do that,” Aziegbemi stated.

He told the coordinators to start the compilation of the Makinde/Daura house-to-house canvassers, as well as the compilation of polling unit agents, and gave them two weeks to complete the processes.
