2027 alliance:Nafiu Bala rejects Atiku, G100 coalition

Date:

The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Nafiu Bala Gombe, has rejected any alliance with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the G100 Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the party will contest independently.

Gombe accused some elements within the coalition and Atiku of allegedly attempting to pressure the ADC leadership into a forced political alliance, warning that the party would not surrender its platform to individual political ambitions.

The ADC chairman stated this in a statement, reaffirming the party’s commitment to its ideology, organisational structure and nationwide presence.

He said the party would not be coerced into any arrangement that contradicted the interests of its members and supporters.

“The African Democratic Congress is NOT, and will NOT be, in any alliance, merger, or coalition with any political party ahead of the 2027 general elections,” Gombe declared.

He added that the party would seek electoral victory at all levels through its ideology, national structure and the support of Nigerians.

Gombe also warned Atiku against allegedly presenting himself as the ADC’s presidential candidate or speaking on behalf of the party.

“We hereby serve a firm notice to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to desist forthwith from parading himself as, or speaking on behalf of the ADC as its presidential candidate,” he said.

The chairman threatened legal and political consequences if Atiku continued to associate the party with his political activities without its authorisation.

Gombe further criticised the former vice-president’s electoral record, describing him as “unelectable in the current Nigerian political climate”.

He accused political opportunists of attempting to hijack the ADC platform and use it to advance personal ambitions.

“As patriotic Nigerians and custodians of this party, we will not sit idly by and watch opportunists like Atiku Abubakar hijack our platform to peddle falsehoods, incite chaos, and destabilise our democracy in pursuit of personal ambition,” he said.

The ADC chairman, however, said the party remained open to Nigerians who shared its ideology and political objectives.

He urged party members nationwide and the general public to disregard reports linking the ADC to Atiku or the G100 Coalition.

Gombe maintained that the party was prepared to contest the 2027 elections without compromising its position on political alliances.

“The ADC is prepared, positioned, and determined to contest and win the 2027 general elections without compromise,” he said.
