Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has vowed that the Peoples Democratic Party will reclaim the state from the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections, accusing the APC administration of reversing the state’s development.
Lamido made the declaration on Saturday while speaking at the inauguration of the PDP Campaign Council at the party’s state headquarters in Dutse, the state capital.
He alleged that the APC-led government had failed to deliver essential services, particularly in healthcare and education.
“Unfortunately, Jigawa State has been taken backwards under the present administration. We are determined to restore the state to its rightful position in governance, development, unity and peaceful coexistence,” he said.
The former governor expressed concern over the difficulties residents face in accessing quality healthcare and education, insisting that critical sectors of the state’s economy were struggling.
“Today, residents are facing serious challenges in accessing quality healthcare. Hospitals lack adequate medical services, education sector continues to deteriorate. Virtually every critical sector is facing serious challenges,” Lamido said.
He accused the APC government of failing the people and promised that the PDP would prioritise transparency, accountability and the welfare of residents if elected in 2027.
“The APC administration has failed the people of Jigawa State. We are determined to establish a transparent, accountable and people-oriented government because the PDP has experienced and competent individuals who understand the responsibilities of leadership and governance,” he stated.
Lamido expressed confidence that the PDP had the personnel and experience required to address the challenges facing the state.
He also pledged that a PDP administration would serve all residents, irrespective of their political affiliations.
“Our administration will be for all residents of Jigawa State, regardless of their political affiliations,” he said.
The former governor further promised that the party would conduct its campaigns peacefully, urging members to avoid intimidation, insults and personal attacks against political opponents.
“Our campaigns will be conducted peacefully, with respect, unity and mutual understanding, without insults, intimidation or personal attacks. Our primary objective is to restore the dignity of Nigeria and Jigawa State,” Lamido added.
The PDP is seeking to regain control of Jigawa State in the 2027 elections after losing power to the APC, with the party positioning its campaign around governance, public services and residents’ welfare.
