A political support group, Sure Hope Ambassadors for Good Governance (SHAGG), has announced plans to mobilise 20 million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The group made the commitment during its national conference and inauguration of zonal and state executives in Abuja over the weekend.
The National Coordinator of SHAGG, Engr. Kingsley Bassey, said the organisation would work under the City Boy Movement to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu and promote awareness of the administration’s policies and programmes.
Speaking at the event, themed “Consolidating a Formidable Movement, Mobilisation for Renewed Hope 2027,” Bassey urged the newly inaugurated executives to establish strong grassroots structures and demonstrate measurable results through voter mobilisation.
He directed state coordinators to build ward and polling-unit structures and identify at least 20 youths in every local government area to support the group’s mobilisation efforts.
Bassey also announced an action plan, including a proposed 740 Schools Project, aimed at taking the group’s message to communities, schools, markets and streets across the country’s 774 local government areas.
He cited the removal of fuel subsidy, student loan scheme, local government autonomy and the reported revival of refineries as examples of government policies and developments the group intends to promote.
According to him, SHAGG’s campaign would focus on issues, government policies and achievements rather than insults or attacks against opposition parties.
“We will not fight the opposition. We will show achievements, promote good governance and take the message of Renewed Hope to the grassroots,” he said.
Bassey described the group’s relationship with the City Boy Movement, which he said operates under the leadership of Seyi Tinubu, as a strategic alliance aimed at mobilising support for President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.
In her remarks, the National Deputy Director of Community Engagement of the City Boy Movement, Fatimah Yusuf Abdulkadir, expressed satisfaction with SHAGG’s activities and pledged continued support for groups working with the movement.
Abdulkadir said many Nigerians, particularly those in rural communities, were not fully aware of the administration’s policies and claimed achievements.
She urged the newly inaugurated executives to avoid selfish interests and concentrate on community engagement and public awareness of government programmes.
The Bauchi State Coordinator of SHAGG, Engr. Suleiman Ahmed, also pledged to intensify mobilisation efforts in the state to secure more votes for Tinubu in 2027.
The inauguration marked the beginning of the group’s planned activities to expand its presence across states and strengthen its grassroots mobilisation network ahead of the next general elections.
