The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has provided vehicles to eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly who recently returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The vehicles are expected to ease the lawmakers’ transportation challenges and facilitate their return to Zamfara State to resume political engagements and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The gesture reportedly followed President Bola Tinubu’s directive urging the lawmakers to return to the state and contribute to efforts to strengthen party unity and cohesion ahead of the elections.
Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State, reportedly directed the immediate release of the vehicles to support the lawmakers’ political activities and engagement with their respective constituencies.
Presenting the vehicles on behalf of the minister, the Managing Director of the Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Yazid Shehu Danfulani, described the gesture as part of Matawalle’s efforts to promote unity, cohesion and political understanding among APC stakeholders in Zamfara State.
Danfulani said the initiative was intended to support the reconciliation process involving the returning lawmakers and the minister, following a period of political disagreement.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Hon. Aliyu Ango Kagara thanked Matawalle for providing the vehicles and pledged that the lawmakers would work towards the success of President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The provision of the vehicles comes after the lawmakers’ return to the APC, in what is being viewed by party stakeholders as part of broader efforts to rebuild political cooperation and strengthen the party’s structure in Zamfara State ahead of the next general elections.
