The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that arrangements have been concluded to refund excess Hajj deposits to intending pilgrims who initially paid N8 million for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this on Wednesday in a statement released by Sulaiman A. Dederi, Public Relations Officer of the board.
Matawalle stated that preparations are complete to process refunds for 500 intending pilgrims who each deposited the initial N8,000,000 fee.
He explained that following the announcement of the official final Hajj fare of N7,672,822, each affected pilgrim is entitled to a refund of N327,178, representing the balance between the initial deposit and the actual fare.
Consequently, Matawalle urged all affected pilgrims to visit the board through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre Officers and present the necessary documentation to facilitate the payment process.
According to the statement, the required documents include: Bank account details, a photocopy of the original payment receip, and a formal written request for the refund.
The Director-General directed all affected pilgrims to submit these documents through their local officers on or before Monday, October 26, 2026, to allow processing to begin promptly.
“Alhaji Matawalle also commended the Kano State Government for its continued support and contributions towards ensuring the welfare and well-being of pilgrims in the state,” the statement concluded.
