Former Sokoto State Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the APC campaign flag-off in Kaduna and the completion of the Kaduna–Abuja dual carriageway.
Shagari, in a statement signed by his media aide, Musa Ubandawaki, congratulated Tinubu, APC leaders, northern governors and party supporters on the successful campaign event held in Kaduna on Saturday.
He described the gathering as a demonstration of the party’s organisational strength and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former minister of water resources said the turnout of party leaders and supporters from across Northern Nigeria highlighted the region’s political importance and the APC’s efforts to consolidate its support base.
He expressed optimism about Tinubu’s re-election prospects but urged the Federal Government to ensure that its policies translate into tangible improvements in Nigerians’ living conditions.
Shagari also praised the Kaduna–Abuja dual carriageway project, saying improved road infrastructure would enhance transportation, facilitate trade, reduce travel difficulties and support economic growth.
He called on the Federal Government to sustain infrastructure development while prioritising security, economic stability, job creation and social welfare.
According to him, a second term for Tinubu would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing projects and reforms, adding that continued political support must be matched by transparency, accountability and responsive governance.
He urged voters in Northern Nigeria to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing continuity and national development as key considerations.
On Sokoto State, Shagari commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, social welfare and human capital development, saying such initiatives were important to improving residents’ living conditions.
