The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, has explained that Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s support for President Bola Tinubu is driven by the need to advance Igbo interests and attract development to the South-East.
Ezeokenwa, who spoke during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday, said Soludo’s decision to align with the President should not be interpreted as a betrayal or a departure from party politics.
According to him, the governor is pursuing a strategic political approach aimed at ensuring that Anambra State and the South-East benefit from cooperation with the Federal Government.
“Governor Soludo believes in working with the Federal Government to attract development to Anambra State and the South-East,” Ezeokenwa said.
He explained that the governor’s position was informed by the need to ensure that the Igbo people remained relevant in national political affairs and were not excluded from decisions affecting the country’s development.
The APGA chairman further stressed that the party remained politically independent despite its willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government on issues that would benefit the people.
He maintained that Soludo’s engagement with Tinubu was in the best interests of Anambra State and the wider South-East region.
Ezeokenwa’s remarks come amid political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with discussions continuing over the implications of Soludo’s support for Tinubu and its relationship with APGA’s political identity.
