The National Orientation Agency has won the Public Information Campaign of the Year Award at the 2026 Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Special Recognition Awards.
The award was presented on Friday, October 23, at the Balmoral Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos, in recognition of the agency’s contributions to public enlightenment, civic education and strategic communication.
The agency disclosed this in a statement signed by its Director of Communication and Media, Bala Musa, on Wednesday.
The Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, was represented at the ceremony by Musa, who received the award on his behalf.
The award ceremony attracted public and private sector organisations, advertising professionals, corporate executives and other stakeholders in Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.
Reacting to the recognition, Issa-Onilu described the award as an endorsement of the agency’s commitment to innovative public communication, national value reorientation and citizen engagement.
He said effective public information campaigns were essential to national development, public trust and responsible citizenship.
The director-general added that the agency remained committed to bridging the communication gap between the government and citizens by improving public understanding of government policies and programmes.
He said the promotion of the National Values Charter, national unity and positive behavioural change remained central to the agency’s mandate.
Issa-Onilu dedicated the award to the agency’s management and staff across the country, particularly those working at the grassroots.
He commended their commitment and professionalism, which he said continued to strengthen the agency’s visibility and impact.
The NOA boss also expressed appreciation to ARCON for recognising the role of public sector communication in national development.
He said the recognition would encourage the agency to adopt more innovative, inclusive and citizen-centred communication strategies.
Issa-Onilu reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to using its nationwide structures, traditional and digital media platforms, and strategic partnerships to promote informed citizenship and national cohesion.
He added that NOA would continue to strengthen public information campaigns aimed at encouraging positive behavioural change among Nigerians.
The award marks another milestone in the agency’s efforts to reposition public orientation as an instrument for national transformation.
