MDPCO to Tinubu: Use Lesser Hajj to Reflect on the State of Nigeria

Date:

By Lateef Ibrahim, Abuja

The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) had called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use his Lesser Hajj in Mecca for sober reflection on the devastation his insensitive administration has caused the nation in the last three and half years.

President Tinubu, according to MDPCO, should upon arrival at the Holy Land, shed every presidential grandstanding, show true contrition for his misgovernance; the worsening insecurity, crushing hardship and widespread misery his policies have inflicted on Nigerians.

The organization, according to a statement by its Director of Strategic Communications, Hon Richard Ihediwa, said, “Let the President confess before the Almighty Allah, his misrule that has condemned Nigerians to endless struggle for survival.

“As a people of faith, we hold that no office, however exalted, places its occupant above the imperatives of conscience, accountability and truth.

“We therefore counsel the President to place before his conscience, his unfulfilled 2023 campaign promises, the oath of office he swore, the obligations it imposed on him and his administration’s record since May 2023.

“Let the Lesser Hajj be a moment of truth where conscience prevails over ambition, reflection over self-justification, and national redemption over political survival.

“We challenge President Tinubu to imagine Nigeria as his private enterprise, entrusted to a manager; with the mounting hardship, hunger, starvation, disease, persistent insecurity and widespread public despair of the past three and half years, would he, as the owner reward the manager with another contract or summarily dismiss him?

“The answer is clear. Such a manager cannot be entrusted with another mandate.

“The future of Nigeria must not be placed in the hands of a leader whose record of governance speaks to a manifest incapacity to continue in office.

“We state without apologies that the presidency is neither a personal inheritance nor is Nigeria, a personal fiefdom to be managed at the whims of an individual.

“Consequently, we urge President Tinubu to accept his failures, seek forgiveness from God and show remorse by withdrawing from the 2027 presidential contest to a quiet retirement.

“President Tinubu should join millions of well-meaning Nigerians in supporting the Presidential flag bearer of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Engr. Seyi Makinde whose RESET NIGERIA Agenda offers a clear lead to return Nigeria to the path of economic recovery, rapid infrastructural development, prosperity and security of all citizens”, the statement concluded.
