The Aguma of Gwagwalada, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammadu Magaji, has declared that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, will be remembered alongside Nigeria’s founding fathers, including Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu Bello (the Sardauna of Sokoto), Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, for his developmental strides in the nation’s capital.
The monarch made the declaration on Monday during the commissioning of the Gwagwalada Civic Centre and a joint stakeholder interactive session involving leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He praised Wike for his commitment to completing abandoned infrastructure projects across the FCT, describing his efforts as a significant contribution to the development of the territory.
Magaji specifically cited the completion of the Gwagwalada Civic Centre, which had reportedly been abandoned for more than 16 years, as evidence of the minister’s commitment to providing public infrastructure and promoting urban renewal.
The traditional ruler also commended the gathering of APC and PDP leaders under the banner of the “Rainbow Coalition”, describing it as a demonstration that political differences could be set aside in the interest of peace, unity and development.
He noted that the completion of long-abandoned public projects provides benefits that cut across political affiliations and serves the interests of residents of the Area Council and the wider FCT.
The monarch urged community members and political leaders to sustain the spirit of cooperation and continue supporting development initiatives across the territory.
