Key executives of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have rejected the newly released membership list for the state’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
The position was made public in a joint statement issued on Tuesday by State Publicity Secretary Wole Adunola, Welfare Officer Deaconess Adesola Ayangbile, Assistant Organizing Secretary Rasheed Adeniji, and Ex-Officio member Abiola Ololade.
The party officials expressed strong reservations over the council’s composition, citing the exclusion of several staunch party members and established leaders.
The statement highlighted that several members of the State Working Committee—who ought to be statutory members under standard party guidelines—were omitted from the controversial list.
Party officials warned that excluding recognized leaders violates due process, undermines consultation, and disrespects the established leadership hierarchy.
The party executives noted that the new list directly contradicts an earlier presidential directive that appointed Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Director-General of the Osun State PCC.
They questioned why a parallel structure was released when Governor Adeleke had already complied with the presidential mandate by inaugurating a broad-based campaign team across the state.
The state executives argued that if the new list was meant to function as a separate “Parliamentary Campaign Council,” that distinction should have been made explicit.
Failing to clarify roles risks creating role duplication, operational friction, and internal division within the party structure.
The Osun APC executives emphasized that a successful election campaign requires mutual respect, organizational discipline, and the inclusion of legitimate party stakeholders.
“The State Executive Committee remains an integral part of the APC’s organizational framework and cannot be sidelined in the constitution of a state-wide campaign council.
“We call for an immediate review of the published list, with appropriate consultations involving key stakeholders—including National Secretary Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru and the State Director-General—to ensure proper alignment and effective coordination.”
Despite their criticism of the list, the state executive members reaffirmed their total loyalty to the APC and their commitment to securing victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
However, they urged both national and state party leadership to address these emerging organizational concerns promptly to maintain party unity.
