The Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu, has called for intelligence support from stakeholders in power sector to stem vandalism of power installations across FCT.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by DSC Monica Ojobi, FCT CDPRO.
It said Odumosu made call when he received Licenced Electrical Contractors Association of Nigeria in his office at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
The FCT Commandant, who recalled that in past few weeks he had paraded vandals of power installations across FCT, said corps would thrive better if associations, groups and individuals volunteered timely intelligence information to help nip vandalism in bud.
“Vandals are trying to circumvent law, but we are not resting on our oars, my men are on 24-hour surveillance of critical national assets and infrastructure, we need your support through timely information to root out these criminals from capital city,” he said.
He urged leadership of association to rise to challenge to ensure their jurisdiction is protected by working harmoniously with corps through provision of prompt information to command.
Odumosu congratulated new executives of association on their new responsibility and charged them to remain focused and carry all members along, assuring that command is open to working with them anytime.
He lauded association for visit and award of excellence presented to him, disclosing that award is being dedicated to his management team that has been working tirelessly to ensure breakthroughs recorded by command.
In his speech, Chairman of association, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, commended Odumosu for laudable achievements recorded by his leadership, noting that award was carefully designed following commandant’s antecedents and achievements in FCT Command.
“Your reign as FCT Command boss has been remarkable and impressive, we believe in diligence and it is only appropriate to recognise and reward hard work,” Abdullahi said.
