Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that a second tenure for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 will make Nigeria greater, attributing his confidence to the President’s courageous leadership and transformative policy decisions.

Speaking on Friday during a town hall interactive meeting with key stakeholders at Buguma in Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Wike emphasized that true national progress relies on strong leadership capable of making tough, necessary choices for the country’s collective future.

Addressing the gathering in his capacity as President Tinubu’s campaign coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT, Wike insisted that supporting the President for a second term in 2027 is essential to securing the long-term prosperity of the nation.

He singled out the removal of the decades-long fuel subsidy as a defining act of bravery that previous administrations avoided.

“We have had presidents come and gone who identified that the major problem with Nigeria’s economy was the fuel subsidy, but nobody was bold enough to tackle it.

“This is a man who took office on May 29, 2023, and immediately declared that the fuel subsidy is gone,” Wike stated.

The Minister outlined key reasons why President Tinubu’s continuation in office beyond 2027 will position Nigeria for greater heights.

He said: “By ending the fuel subsidy regime, the administration significantly increased statutory revenues flowing to state and local governments, enabling sub-nationals to clear lingering salary and pension backlogs.”

While acknowledging current economic sacrifices, Wike urged Nigerians to remain patient, assuring them that the ongoing structural reforms will build a resilient economy that benefits all citizens in a second term.

He pointed to the education sector as proof of effective governance, highlighting that Nigerian universities have maintained uninterrupted academic schedules without a single ASUU strike for three consecutive years under Tinubu.

Expressing complete trust in the administration’s direction, Wike reaffirmed that good leadership makes every nation-building goal achievable, reinforcing his commitment to driving the 2027 vision to fruition.

He concluded by announcing that President Tinubu will visit Rivers State Saturday, to engage directly with stakeholders and lay out the strategic vision for Nigeria’s continued growth.
