As millions gathered in Saudi Arabia for the 2014 Hajj, popular Bollywood actor, writer and director, Kader Khan, has arrived in Makkah to perform Hajj.
The 78 year-old actor, was accompanied by his two sons, Shahnawaz and Sarfaraz and a daughter-in-law.
The Indian Consul-General, B.S. Mubarak, told a Saudi-based newspaper, Arab News on Monday, that the actor was being accorded the customary welcome for important pilgrims.
Mubarak explained that the Bollywood actor was received in Makkah on arrival on Sunday by Indian Hajj Mission official, Omer Khan.
“Kader Khan is very happy to be in Makkah, His sons are equally delighted at being here for Haj. They are looking forward to performing the rituals in the coming days.” Omer Khan said.
Omer Khan said the people at the place where he is staying immediately recognized him and his signature voice and they hugged and congratulated him. Kader Khan has come to the Kingdom through Arabian Group, a private Hajj operator.
It was gathered that a total of 136 000 Indian pilgrims are expected to perform Hajj this year.
