Kaduna state governor, Alhaji Muhktar Ramalan Yero has called on all Nigerians to forge greater unity and exhibit patriotism towards achieving peace and development. He stated this in his goodwill message signed by his Director-General Media and Publicity, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, Governor Yero further said the time has come for Nigeria to assume its rightful position as the economic giant and political leader on the African continent. This he said can only be achieved through genuine unity among all sections of the country.

“Our greatest challenge as a people has never been the resources or brains to drive the growth and development of this great country; our set back has always been identifying a balance between power and resource sharing between the component units of the country. With the incremental stabilization of democratic rule, Nigeria is surely on the path to greatness.

“At 54 years of Independence, I call on all Nigerians to place greater emphasis on issues that unite us as a people and to look forward towards the immense benefits of building a strong and united nation that is set to join the league of developed countries of the World.

“We must all embrace the cardinal principle of democracy by absolutely respecting the Rule of Law. As we approach another threshold in our democratic experience, we must all realise that 2015 cannot be an end, it is only going to be a means to evolving a modern industrially developed new Nigeria.

Meanwhile there was no Independence celebration in Kaduna metropolis, investigation by this reporter revealed that the colourfully dressed security agents from the Nigeria Army, Navy and Police arrived at the popular Murtala Square as early as 8 a.m. for the traditional march pass but left the center around 12 noon, as no government officials came and the center was deserted by people.
