Ogbeche makes mark in Holland

Date:

Nigerian striker, Bartholomew Ogbeche scored twice for Eredivisie club, SC Cambuur in the 4-1 win over Dordrecht on match day eight of the competition. Ogbeche’s goal in the sixth minute of the contest decided on Saturday at Cambuurstadion was down to a pure poacher’s instinct.

He latched on to Sander van de Streek’s cross on the left which he expertly steered past the Dordrecht goalkeeper, Filip Kurto from an acute angle. His second goal came in the 53rd minute and this time, Daniel de Ridder was the provider of the assist.

Ogbeche has been in great form this season and has now scored five goals in eight league matches this term. It follows strikes for the Leeuwarden club against Excelsior, Groningen and Vitesse earlier in the campaign.

He is now in fourth place in the goalscorer’s standings with Michiel Kramer (ADO Den Haag), Luc Castaignos (FC Twente) and Memphis Depay (PSV) the only players ahead of him in the classifications. The 30-year-old, who scored two league goals for Cambuur last season, was capped 20 times by Nigeria at senior level.
