The women wing of a group, Vanguard of Progressive Change, has vowed to go naked in the street, should the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) impose a particular candidate who has once served in the country in the past, as Presidential candidate of the party.

The group in a statement issued yesterday, signed by its leader, Ekema Joy Edit, said the proposed imposition as widely reported by Nigerian dailies is against the wish and desire of the teaming supporters of the southern part of Nigeria in particular and Nigeria at large, and is not acceptable to women in the APC.

“In the light of the foregoing we of the Vanguard of Progressive Change, women wing vow to go naked in the street to impose a curse and invoke the spirit of our ancestors against any sons and daughters of the land that are masquerading as leaders of our party.

Edit cautioned leaders of the party on the desire and aspirations of the people for a change in our country.

“There is no doubt that the emergence of our party is not for the selfish interest where the end justify the means but rather it’s a product of the desire and aspirations of the people for a change in our country.

“Any attempt by any persons to impose any Presidential Candidate will not only be treated as political saboteurs but political renegades, as we can no longer fold our arms to watch someone destroy our collective patrimony.

“We want to take our destiny in our own hands this time around, and we will resist any attempt to stop or suppress internal democracy in our party. We will go all out unrestrained to exhibit where the imposture and benefactors came from. Internal democracy is the only remedy to avert the doomsday for the APC if imposition is the order of the day.
