Relief came the way of the former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Hon Remmy Hassan, when the abductors of his mother, Madam Rachel Hassan freed her.
Confirming the release to newsmen, Hon Remmy Hassan, who is also a member representing Odogbolu constituency in the Ogun state House of Assembly, said she was released unhurt.
His words: “Yes, I thank God she has been released unhurt and healthy,”.
Hassan, who did not say whether any ransom was paid before her release, however expressed happiness that her release had brought relief to the family.
Though, it could not be confirmed whether any ransom was paid before her release, but an unconfirmed report had it that the kidnappers had earlier demanded a N50 million ransom from the family before releasing the woman.
Reacting to the development, the Ogun state Command of Nigeria Police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed her release. “Yes, Mama had been released unhurt,” Adejobi said.
It would be recalled that gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, abducted the mother of the lawmaker representing Odogbolu constituency in the Ogun state House of Assembly, Honourable Remmy Hazzan few days ago.
The 69 years old politician’s mother, Madam Rachael Hazzan was abducted from her home at Omu -Ijebu in the Odogbolu local government area of the state.
Hazzan, a Second timer in the Ogun state House of Assembly said his mother was abducted right in front of her shop in the family house located along the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE) road, Irete, in Omu – Ijebu.
