From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina.
The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih has foreclosed the possibility of President Goodluck Jonathan dropping Vice-President Namadi Sambo as his running mate for the 2015 election.
A reliable source told our correspondent that Mr. ‘Fix it’ stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting, held at the presidential wing of the new Katsina Government House in the late hours of Monday.
At the meeting, which was held behind close door, the source told our correspondent that Anenih clarified the issue while reacting to comments by some of the stakeholders appealing for PDP to replace Sambo with Governor Shema.
The speakers at the meeting cited what they called “the wonderful performance” of Governor Shema in Katsina state as their basis for their call for the Governor to be given a bigger role in 2015.
The source alleged that Anenih said there was no ground for contemplating the president changing Namadi Sambo as his running mate, alleging that even with the animosity between Obasanjo and Atiku then, they managed to complete their tenure together.
It was further alleged by the source that when Anenih threw the bombshell, participants at the stakeholders meeting starting trooping out of the venue expressing their displeasure with his position.
However the source disclosed that Anenih provided some option for Governor Shema, by advising him to approach his people and consider the option of contesting the senatorial seat.
To express the stakeholders’ further displeasure with Anenih’s position, the meeting ended up abruptly without the participants touching refreshments provided for them.
