FG flags-off Quella control in Kebbi

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture has flagged off Quella Bird control in Kebbi state.

The Zonal Coordinator, federal ministry of agriculture, in charge of Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi, Mr Jude Omoregbe, yesterday during the flag-off ceremony at the Sir Ahmadu Bello Sardauna International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, said survey carried out, revealed that the birds are back fully again in Kebbi.

He added that the federal ministry of agric intends to use the opportunity to do the best that they can in collaboration with the state government to control the birds.

“This operation for the past two years has been taking place twice a year for the dry season and wet season operation.

The wet season operation is to guide against rice and millet and late millet crops in the field right now,” he said.

He called for the support of the farmers and the state government to have a successful operation.

“Luckily, we have a veteran pest control expert, who has done so many good jobs in many states and we hope he will replicate same in Kebbi,” he said.

Governor Sa’idu Dakingari, who was represented by the acting permanent secretary, state ministry of agric Alh Lawal Mohammed said the contribution of the state government will come in before the end of the 10- day operation.

“Quella bird control operation in the state is usually by-annual , dry season and rainy season which the state government usually augment the federal government,” he said.
