NICEGA GAMES: Airtel, Coca Cola donate cash, materials to COE Minna

Nigeria telecommunication outfit, Airtel mobile network has donated N1.5 million cash and materials worth over N1million to the Niger State College of Education Minna as part of its sponsorship support towards the hosting of the Nigeria College of Education Games (NICEGA) being hosted by the Institution.

Head of commercial operation (North) Airtel, Mr. Jerry Essien while presenting the cash and materials to the chairman local organizing committee of the game who is also the Provost of the college, Professor Farouk Haruna Abdulrasheed said the donations by the company towards the success of the game is part of it social corporate responsibility. Other items donated by the company include, 1500 T-Shirts, 3,000 wrist band, 150 bandanas and 1,000 face caps.

He also said that Airtel is deploying some other items to help create awareness at the game and these includes NICEGA official web page, feather banners, pull-up banners and Airtel branded canopies within the games venues in the college to provide shields. He noted that the communication outfit has been partnering with governments at all levels and it’s agencies towards the growth of sports in the country.

Essien added that as part of entertainment of the audience at the game, Airtel is planning to stage a drama on Airtel insurance during the opening ceremony to educate students, staff and athletes on the benefits of the product and how to subscribe to the scheme.

While receiving the items on behalf of the LOC, the Provost, Professor Farouk Haruna Abdulrasheed thanked the telecommunication giant for it contribution to the successful hosting of the game.

The Provost said the contribution of Airtel will go a long way in assisting the college towards the success of the game, adding that any contribution, either in cash or materials towards the game will be highly appreciated.

He disclosed that apart from Airtel, soft drink giant, Coca Cola has also identified with the college by donating some items to the college towards the hosting of the game, which he said is the first in the first history of the game.
