An Oshodi Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Wednesday, remanded a fake army officer, Mark Damijida, at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, over alleged impersonation.
The Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola, remanded Damijida, 27, after he admitted that he was a fake army officer and he also gave the police false information in order to obtain money.
Fashola adjourned the case till Nov. 3 for facts and sentencing.
Damijida, who resides at No. 52, Ajenia St., Obalende, Lagos, was arraigned on a two-count charge of impersonation and giving false information.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 22 at Oshodi, Lagos.
Olatunde said that the accused gave false information to the police alleging that one Mr. Ismailia Dauda stole his N135, 000; two Samsung Galaxy handsets valued N70, 000 and a Nigeria Army identification card.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 77 and 96 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2011.
Section 77 provides that if convicted for impersonation, the accused is liable to three years imprisonment. (NAN)
