An Ado-Ekiti High Court on Monday sentenced a 55-year-old man, Jimoh Ayeni, and his son, Haruna, to death by hanging for murder of a farmer.

The Judge, Justice Mosun Bodunde, found the man and his son guilty of murder of Chief Clement Ayeni while he was working in his farm.

Bodunde said that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubts that the duo committed the murder on June 27, 2012.

“The sentence of the court upon you is that you be hanged by the neck until you will be dead.

“May the Lord have mercy on your souls,’’ the judge held.

The Ekiti state Counsel, Mr Familoni Adeniyi, had submitted that the convicts murdered the deceased at Ose Egbeda Camp in Emure-Ekiti in Ekiti East local government area.

He noted that the offence contravened Section 316 of the Criminal Code Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti state, 2012.

The prosecution and the defence called eight witnesses each in the case.
