PTAD set to screen members on scheme

The Director-General, Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorates (PTAD), Nellie Mayshak has said that arrangement has been concluded to screen Pensioners across the country to identify authentic ones.

The Director –General who was represented by the director parastatals pension, Mr. Taiwo Ogundipe stated this yesterday in Gombe during a stakeholder sensitization workshop on pension management under the defined benefit scheme for north-east zone.

The DG said the objective of the workshop was to interact with pensioners on the issue they are facing with government.

He said the workshop was aimed at sensitizing them on the need to be aware for the activities of pension transitional arrangement directorate where it had strategies in order to alleviate the suffering of pensioners across the country.

Speaking at the event, Assistant Secretary –General National Union of Pension, Alhaji Ahmed Gazali commended the Federal government for approving the payment of 33 percent to its members which he said pensioners across the country are overwhelmed with the development.

He called on the government to do more in order to ameliorate the sufferings of retirees who had service the country dedicatedly.

He added that the responsibility of government is to ensure that those who had retired from the civil service get sense of belonging in the society.

He therefore appealed to pension transitional arrangement directorate to look into the matter and consider pensioners who were employed in the civil service long ago and cannot find their letters of employment during the verification exercise.
