The Nigeria Police Force says it has concluded all necessary procedure to handover a 23-year-old Nigerian suspected of murder to the UK authorities.
A statement issued on Wednesday by Ag. CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Public Relations Officer, in Abuja said the Nigerian (name withheld) allegedly killed one Carl Beatson Asiedu on Aug.1, 2009, in London.
He said that the Inspector General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, had assured the International law enforcement communities that the Nigeria Police would always ensure that all fugitives that showed up in Nigeria would be apprehended.
Ojukwu said the Abba further promised that such fugitives would be turned over accordingly upon request
The statement quoted the I-GP as commending Police Intelligence Operatives for the arrest of the suspect in the United Kingdom.
Ojukwu, who said that the suspect, aged 23, fled to Nigeria on Sept. 23, 2014, and stayed in Asaba, Delta, added that he was arrested in the area after a diligent search.
“The IGP particularly praised the high level of professionalism displayed by the police operatives as well as the effective deployment of the forces’ high tech-equipment in tracking the suspect.
“He added that despite the fugitive’s frequent change of identity and locations, the operatives were still able to keep a tab on him without raising any suspicion,” the statement read in part. (NAN)
