If the ongoing talks on financial autonomy with stakeholders collapse, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has said that the union would not under any circumstance negotiate further with government.

A meeting in the instance of Secretary to the Federal Government, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim was adjoined to 19th November, 2014, to allow Chairman of Federation Allocation Account Committee (FAAC) and Minister of State, Finance to examine the document submitted by the union.

National President of JUSUN, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu who spoke in Abuja at the Weekend said the union though agreed for the meeting to be adjoined with caution that the issue should be resolved on the said date.

The JUSUN boss vowed the independent and financial autonomy of the Judiciary is not negotiable, as such the union cannot negotiate with anyone if they failed to do the right thing as stipulated on the January 13th, 2014 Federal High Court Abuja judgment.

He warned that government should not take the union for ride; an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) was summoned for 20th November to take any decision arising from the 19th meeting with the government.

Comrade Marwan however disagreed a situation where Court order is being neglected by those who sworn to uphold the constitution of the country just because it does not go down well with them.

“We fixed our NEC meeting for 20th November to discuss and deliberate on the outcome of the 19th meeting. In other word, the 19th meeting is going to be the final meeting between the Government and the union. If the outcome of the meeting is positive, fine but if is not is ok fine but we have an instrument to take decision on the matter at the NEC level.”

On why the matter was not resolved at the last meeting, he said the figure presented by the union was for the Judiciary as the executive was not involved which is why they requested for a time to scrutinise the figure.

Marwan said “We extract the figure from the budget so is for them to look whether the figure tally with the one in the 2014 budget”.
