I remain Speaker of the House – Tambuwal

Despite the controversies surrounding the recent court ruling advising that the status quo should be maintained in respect of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has said he is not shaken about the whole incident, as he remains the speaker f the house.

He disclosed this while speaking to the media shortly after the All Progressive Congress (APC) North West Stakeholders meeting held in Kaduna yesterday.

Tambuwal added that his fate is in the hands of God and not in his distracters, saying that the majority of the members of the lower chamber were behind him.

He advised Nigerians to discard wrong information been circulated around by agents of distraction.

Speaking on the matter before the Federal High Court, Tambuwa, who is a lawyer himself, said his counsel, Lateef Fagebemi (SAN), has explained everything when he said the status quo referred to period before his security details were withdrawn and any attempt to alter the Court pronouncement amounts to court contempt.

“Yes, I am here for the first time to attend the zonal meeting of the North-west Stakeholders meeting of APC, which is my political party.

My fate lies in the hand of God and Homourable Members of House of Representatives, adding “Don’t forget that I was elected to be the Speaker of the House by my respected colleagues and as I am speaking with you, I remain the Speaker because there has been no contrary decision from the House.

“there are set down rules that must be followed but unfortunately lot of interest has set in and that is the reason for the recent racour and unfortunate our security agents whose sole duty is the maintaining law and order and the protection of lives and properties are cut in the web.” Tambuwal said.
