The former chairman of Yola-South local government in Adamawa state, Hon. Sani Ribadu, who is a younger brother to former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Malam Nuhu Ribadu has been abducted by unknown gunmen, at the weekend.

Reports from Yola indicated that Ribadu was followed to his farm at Mbamba suburb in the evening and was whisked away by heavily armed men, who were three in number, with their faces masked and in a Toyota Starlet car.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Adamawa Police command, DSP Abubakar Othman urged the general public to assist the force with relevant information that will lead to the arrest of the criminals.

While narrating how the incident happened, Othman said it was carried out by 3 gunmen around 6:30pm of Sunday.

He said the three gunmen accosted the former Chairman on his farm along Yola –Fufore road and asked him alongside 12 of his workers to lie down. “But 4 out of the workers managed to flee from the scene leaving Ribadu and 8 workers,” he said.

Othman added that the gunmen had initially bundled Ribadu into his Toyota Tundra car but it suddenly stopped and the gunmen used a white starlet car to take him out of the town through the route leading to Mayo Belwa local government area.

The Police spokesman said they have intensified surveillance around the area where the crime took place even though they were yet to make any arrest urging the general public to give the police adequate information that will lead to the arrest of the criminals.
