The United States Embassy has said no American was on board a Nigerian Air Force helicopter that crashed in Yola, the Adamawa state capital on Monday.
A statement by the Information Office, Public Affairs Section, US Embassy, Abuja, said no American was involved in the Yola helicopter crash, as reported.
It could be recalled that some national dailies (not Peoples Daily) reported yesterday that five American soldiers were aboard the helicopter, with call sign Shark 23, on a training mission, executed a controlled forced landing on Monday, four minutes after take-off at the runway approach end of Yola International Airport.
“The United States maintains a robust counter terrorism and dynamic bilateral relationship with the Government of Nigeria. We remain committed in our support to Nigeria’s efforts to stop the abhorrent actions of Boko Haram and associated terrorist groups”, the US Embassy stated.
