I’ll no longer tolerate killings in Southern Kaduna – Yero

Worried by the incessant killings in some communities of sanga local government area of Kaduna state, Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero said his administration will no longer tolerate killings of innocent lives in state, particularly in southern part of the state.

He urged the people of the state to imbibe the culture of living in peace and embrace tolerance and dialogue as the way forward.

Speaking at the declaration of ‘Sanga Peace Pledge 2014’, the governor said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure safety of lives and property of the people.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Ambassador Audu Nuhu Bajoga, decried the issue of incessant conflicts among some ethnic groups in the state.

According to him, without peace, no meaningful development can be achieved.

In his remark, the Uchu Ninzo, Alhaji Ibrahim Yakubu, appealed to Fulani community in Sanga local government to embrace peace, saying peace is one of the paramount aspect that no responsible society can ignore He further explained that as a result of frequent conflicts in the area most farmers were unable to go to their farms for fear of being attack by unknown persons.

The co- Executive Director, Interfaith Mediation Centre Kaduna, Mohammed Nurayn Ashafa advised the youths in the area to shun selfish politicians who might use them to cause confusion to destabilize the society.

He called on security agencies in the state to rally round government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) towards restoring peace in the state.

Some of the spokespersons of the Sanga Peace Pledge vowed to opposed any incitement, hatred and discrimination that may lead to polarization of one other and condemned all forms of hostilities.
