Katsina forum wants people to shun desperate politicians

Date:

From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina

The Katsina State Consultative Forum has appealed to people of the state to be on the guard and always ignore politicians whose antecedents are inimical to peace and contrary to established regulations stipulated by the law.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Interim Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomassie and the coordinator of the group, Alhaji Aliyu Sani Muhammad.

The statement further said that as the 2015 general election is fast approaching the mass hysteria, apprehension and fears associated with it are building, expressing sadness with the way desperate politicians are breaking the electoral regulations with impunity.

The forum also frowned at the security challenges faced due to cattle rustling in areas such as Kankara, Jibia, Batsari, and Safana local governments, where according to them so many lives and property were lost.

It similarly called for resuscitation of a well defined and manageable grazing routes system especially as the forum said “this may be sustained for a period of time but ultimately the establishment and maintenance of ranches in identified areas”.

“Our traders in cattle and other animals as well as vegetable merchants do suffer when they travel to the south of the country to sell their goods. They face violent criminals, lose their animals or money, vegetables and in many instances also lose their lives” it added.

The forum however called on the federal government to give approval and organize a joint operation in “Rugu Forest” to dislodge these cattle rustlers hiding in it and establish security points in the affected areas.
