From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has threatened to seal the Bauchi Meat Products Company Limited over tax evasion of a whopping sum of N24 million, just as it gave the company one week ultimatum
The Tax Controller in-charge of seven local government areas, including Bauchi metropolis, Mr. Magaji Richard gave the General Manager of the Company, Dr. Al-qassim Ibrahim and the state Ministry of
Commerce a one-week ultimatum to settle the N 24 million or shut-down the Meat Company yesterday in Bauchi during operation of tax evasion companies
It was reliably gathered that it is jointly owned by Bauchi and Gombe state governments.
Richard said, “We are under directive by our headquarters to seal all defaulting firms and there is no going back on the directive. We have written to all the companies in the state and some of the companies have started responding, but we also have to go around.”
He said Wiki Tours Hotel and Bauchi Investment Company are owing the whopping sum of N 19 million and N8 million, but already the hotel has paid N2.6 million, saying the FIRS have just started clapping on the defaulters.
FIRS has also sealed the premises of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), known as Partnership Project-Associate and Cyber Mart Internet café.
