25 aspirants want Bauchi APC primaries cancelled

Twenty five aspirants who lost in the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state have appealed to the national leadership of the party to cancel the election and to order for fresh election in to the all elections conducted by the party.

 Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, Ahmed Isa Tahir made the call yesterday during a press briefing held at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa tomb in Bauchi.

  He  alleged that that the elections were carried out in contempt of court since there was a court order  stopping the conduct of the primaries in Bauchi, as well as being characterized by rigging, violation of electoral laws , conspiracy , threats , intimidation , use of money and other illegal and corrupt practices.

He said together with other defeated aspirants had submitted their joint petition against the conduct of the primary election to the election Appeal Panel set up by the National Headquarters of the party.

 Tahir further alleged that the aspirants observed that in the process of casting their votes delegates were manipulated and compelled to vote for a particular candidate and called for the cancellation of the election.

 The aspirants included 10 House of Representatives and 15 House of Assembly aspirants who were all present during the press briefing.
