27 year-old man docked for stealing N1.4m

A 27-year-old employee, Ganiyu Taiwo, recently appeared before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with stealing N1,432,000 from his employer.

Taiwo, who resides at No. 5, Bakare Faro St., Ajegunle, Lagos, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Cpl. John Iberedem, told the court that the accused stole N1,432,000, property of Boladek Nigeria Limited.

The prosecutor said the accused committed the offence on October 7 at Boladek Nigeria Limited, Aguda, Lagos.

He said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 stipulates three years imprisonment for stealing.

Taiwo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya , granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000, with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Feb. 8 for trial. (NAN)
