Kano Assembly passes bill on College of Remedial Studies

Date:

The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill for the establishment of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso College of Advance and Remedial Studies.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the bill, which was presented to the assembly by the executive arm, was passed unanimously by the members.

The Majority Leader of the assembly and member representing Rano Constituency, Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan, said the passage of the bill was necessary.

He said that the decision to establish the college was to also help students who were not able to secure admission into university or other higher institutions.

Alhassan said this was due mainly to deficiencies in their secondary school leaving certificate.

He said the establishment of the school in Tudun Wada Local Government Area would enable indigenes to have access to quality education without stress.

The majority leader said that the state government was providing the college with all the necessary facilities to make learning easy for students.

He said that the college could compete with any higher institution in the country.

“The college was provided with a laboratory with all the needed equipment installed in it.

“Also, a research centre was provided in the college to allow them carry out any kind of research”, he said.

Alhassan said specialists in education from Bayero University and Wudil University of Technology would be given the responsibility of moving the college to higher levels.
