Abuja Urban Mass Transport Company Limited (AUMCO) say all necessary arrangement has been concluded to migrate from selling paper ticket to passengers to e-ticketing in the transport system of the Federal Capital Territory.
Head, Marketing and Communication of the Company, Tunde Akintola, who disclosed this in recent interview with newsmen in Abuja, said the e-ticketing will help commuters to plan ahead of time.
Akintola, who urged commuters to cooperate with them as they are about commencing the e-ticketing, said that e-ticketing will be cheaper compared to other modes of collecting transport fares from commuters.
According to him, the necessary gadget for the operation of the e-ticketing regime has been fixed in almost all the high capacity buses in the sector.
“We will soon start creating awareness in the media, so as to adequately sensitise and educate commuters towards using the e-ticketing card, so that when we start, people will key into the system immediately,” he explained.
He further disclosed that about 400 high capacity buses are currently in operation, in the FCT and its environs, adding that out of the total number of buses at its disposal, 300 the types that are used all over the world.
