Super Eagles interim coach, Daniel Amokachi has charged all the home base players presently in camp ahead of the double-header international friendly games with Cote d’Ivoire and Sudan to fight for their place in the team, insisting that only fit players would be pick for the to training tour to Dubai.
Amokachi, who is stand-in as a coach in the absence of his boss, Stephen Keshi who is currently in USA, said he will not pick player base on name. “We don’t look at names now; it is the players that are fit. Out of the 24 players we have in camp, only 5 or 6 players have really shown that they are ready for the encounter.
“I cannot pick the 19 players for now, because every of the players is coming from off season. Minus the six players, every other one is on line. When you have less than ten days to prepare, names does not matter, it is present form that matters, though we would need a little bit of experience”.
The former international urged the players not be under rated as they would do their best against Coted’ivoire in the friendly encounter in Dubai “we would do our best and believe that the players would assimilate quickly.
The lapses we noticed would be worked upon because you cannot concede two goals and come back, this is something we are working on” he said.
The 1994 AFCON winning player bemoaned the inability of the Super Eagles to qualify for the championship holding in Equatorial Guinea, but wish the participating teams the best.
