IGP redeploys Mbu to Lagos ahead polls, 27 others moved

As part of the ongoing reorganization in the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Suleiman Abba, has ordered, with immediate effect, the redeployment of AIG Joseph Mbu to Lagos as AIG Zone 2 ahead of the February polls

Redeployed along with AIG Mbu are twenty-seven (27) Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to various departments, Zonal Commands and Formations of the Force.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Ag. CP Emmanuel Ojukwu said the redeployment followed the recent promotion of some senior officers and vacancies occasioned by retirements.

Some of the officers redeployed include AIG Johnson Ogunsakin who was formally the AIG in charge of Training and Development is now in AIG Zone 6 Calabar, Patrick Dokumor was redeployed from NIPSS Jos to zone 7 Abuja. Dokumor replaces AIG Joseph Mbu who is redeployed to AIG Zone 2 Lagos.

Others are Ikemefuna Okoye redeployed from CP Ogun state to AIG 11, Osogbo, Kalafite Helen from COMDAC CMDT. STAFFPOL, Jos to Maritime, Force Headquarters, Ballah Magaji to CMDT PSC Jos.

The statement further said while charging the Senior Officers to bring their experience to bear on their new postings and be more service-oriented in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, the IGP urges the public to partner closely with the force in its determination to ensure improved safety and security of our country.

Meanwhile, the Sokoto state command of the Nigerian Police Force has denied accusation made by the governor of the state in a national daily alleging that the Inspector General of Police; IGP Suleiman Abba broke the peace accord signed between president Goodluck Jonathan and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Sokoto state Commissioner of Police, Shu’aibu Gambo.

The statement said all the accusations made by the Sokoto State Governor are unfounded saying that it was untrue to allege that, the Police arrests the opposition on trumped up charges.

Gambo in the statement maintained that Police have always lived up to its mandate and ensured that arrests of both sides are promptly carried out and suspects charged to court as the case may be.
