No fewer than 11 people were on Tuesday killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Sontyo village in Wukari local government area of Taraba state
In addition to the 11 peoples killed, several others including children and women are reportedly missing.
Eyewitnesses said the attacked occurred just as the community traditional rulers and local government chairmen were meeting on their way forward on the insecurity in their domain.
Mark Isha a resident of the attacked village told journalists that one of the attackers came in large numbers and invaded Sontyo a village located about two kilometers away from Kente
He said they shot sporadically, killing many people especially their farms. Many villages have fled into the adjourning forest, he added
Mark Isha said that eleven bodies have so far been recovered following a search carried out by a combined team of police and local villagers who combed the bushes in search for dead bodies.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the attack said men of the state police command are already on the trail of the attackers.
He said while four dead bodies were recovered by the police, four other people are still missing.
