Stakeholders in Nigeria’s business sector have been charged to ensure an increase in employment generation, through greater involvement of entrepreneurial activities.
Speaking at the recent induction program, to mark the swearing in of the 9th executive members of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA), the newly elected president Mr Tony Ejinkeonye stated that “our teaming unemployed youth are crying out to us, and as economic drivers of our nation, we must not throw up our hands in the air in submission; we must find the answers.”
And quoting the words of former president John Kennedy of the united states, he adds that; “If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.”
He therefore called on the newly elected executives, to work together towards achieving the goals of the chamber.
“The chamber is collectively ours and so it is also the collective responsibility of every single one of us to take it to the top, where it belongs.”
The ABUCCIMA president added that the chamber would only grow if its leaders work collectively, as one; towards improving the nation through its activities.
Speaking also at the event, the national president of the association, Mohammed Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the peaceful transition, describing it as a testimony of the chambers compliance with the ethics of good corporate governance.
He however stated that; “it is highly imperative for the new executives to note that, for a chamber of commerce to grow, operate effectively and accomplish results, it must have voluntary support for its members.
He then charged them to work with the support of their members.
