Following the recent redeployment of the Director, Department of Facilities Maintenance and Management of Abuja Metropolitan Management Council(AMMC), Engr. Omoniyi Olaloye, to a newly created Department of Solid Minerals and Allied Matters, Engr. Felix Obiora Nwankwo, has replaced him as the Director of the Department. 

Nwankwo, a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1992 and a Fellow Nigeria Society of Engineers in 2006 and a Fellow Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers in 2014 (NICE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), the Umbrella body for all Engineers in Nigeria and COREN Registered Engineer in 1996.

He hails from Awka South, Local Government Area in Anambra State and had his Secondary School Education at Merchants of Light Secondary School, Oba in Anambra State and his University Education at Feati University Philippines, in Philippines where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree (Civil Engineering) in 1985 and his post graduate studies was also at University of Philippines where he obtained a Master’s degree in Civil (Structures) in 1988 and he further completed an Executive MBA in 2014.

He returned to Nigeria in 1988 for his NYSC programme and he did his primary assignment at Government Technical College, Orozo, in FCT.

At the completion of his NYSC programme in 1989, he secured an employment with Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in the Department of Engineering Services as Engineer 1, where he worked and rose to the rank of a Deputy Director, Regional infrastructure (FCDA). 

He was promoted to the rank of a Director Satellite Towns’ Development Department (STDD) in charge of planning and supervision of the provision of infrastructure facilities to satellite towns within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in 2017 and Acting coordinator Satellite Towns’ Development Department in 2019.

Also, he was subsequently redeployed to the office of the Director, Human Resource Department of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in September 2021, until his redeployment to  Department of Facilities Maintenance and Management, last week.

 Nwankwo had supervised various projects since his employment with Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) for more than 30 years of his service as a career civil servant and professionally as an Engieer had received various dedicated service awards from Abuja branch, and other branches of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and national including life membership award and have attended all the NSE AGM from 1992 to date.
